Title: Gaming Laptop
Post by: Aztek on April 25, 2016, 10:23:11 PM
Guys, I know nothing about laptops.  I am curious to know if any laptops would be good to run DF on.  Also, would need some way to run it while on the road.  Thoughts?

Asus are always good they are bulky though.

Sager's are also good:

MSI laptops are usually cheaper but will work as they usually have decent graphics cards in them.

From my limited knowledge of this topic, I can only say that I've heard great things about MSI gaming notebooks. Most of them would be able to run DFO on a reasonably good framerate also.

i would like to divert your attention to the fact that your keyboard will be shit and you should get an external one to take with you.

it might run it, but your muscle memory cant be bought.

Not sure which it is, but one of the companies is actually making theirs with a mechanical keyboard.

I thought ASUS was bad?

I've never owned an ASUS laptop, but I've had lots of other products from them (motherboards, graphics cards, etc.) and I've been really happy.

I have a ASUS G752VL. Anything with a GTX 965m or higher should work fine man.
I like my laptop but it is fucking heavy as shit. As far as power it is pretty silly how well it runs, between the ssd and the i7 this thing is pretty hard to bog down. If i was you i would just set a budget and get the best deal off newegg for a
GTX 970m
g sync
4ram slot, mine only has 2 but is expandable.
i7 6700hq
Out the back cooling (this is huge, and reason I got g752vl)

That should be enough to play any game out currently, with settings lowered but still smooth and enjoyable. I'm queer for Asus but MSI  is bad ass too. Good luck buddy.
If you want make and model suggestions I just got home and i would be glad to help out.
